A bit o' Iowa! :)
For my 4th of July break I went to Iowa with some of my friends. There's not much to say about it other than: corn, cows, and green. That's pretty much it. Yup, yup.
I did really enjoy experiencing a bit of farm life for the weekend, and I went a little photo-crazy. No lie, even after I deleted a bunch of the "crappy ones," I had almost 600 pictures on my memory card (from 3 days).
So, I thought I'd share a few of my favorites with you lovely Xangans, just so you can see what I was up to. After all, everyone needs to have a photoblog every once in a while, right? People like to look at stuff just as much as they like to read (if not more). And also, so you can be impressed by my amazing photography skillz!

Baxster... their old, fat beagle. It was love at first site.

Muddy creeks, bridges, and dust. All in vast quantities in Iowa.
Breanna

Ash... girl looks like a freaking super model!
Silo... with ivy. Epic.
Chainsaw. Yesss!
Fields of wildflowers.
Ash again, with Baxster. I think she was attempting to brush him.
Aly and Baxster!
Milking the cow. I didn't participate. Someone had to document.
We were playing peek-a-boo. This cutie was my buddy.

Vandalizing the bridge. Shhhhhh.
For the record... I'm not left-handed. The picture just worked better that way.
So... we found this abandoned farm. It was the most amazing place to take pictures. One thing I didn't understand: piles of old stoves? WHAT?
Broken down cars...
The obligatory Jenah and Breanna photo. This is actually one of the only ones in which we both look pretty good. lol
I don't even know about this one. We were just doing a lot of randomness.
Aly!
This little guy was hiding, so it was hard to get a shot, but I tried. And actually, when we first saw it, it scared the CRAP out of us. Because we weren't expecting living things to be behind the door...
Just kind of an experimental thing.
Cows! I swear, they were coming right at us. Vicious beasts.
Reflections are always fun.

Sunset...
4th of July... you gotta have fireworks!

Alright... that's all I got. I narrowed down my 600 to a few pictures just for you guys! So, comment away. Criticize, appreciate, make fun of, whatever floats your boat. You guys rock!

200 pictures a day even after deleting photos? That is definitely excessive.
Why was she carrying the chainsaw? Did she have some trees to cut down or something?
Why would you not participate in milking a cow when given the opportunity? I've long wanted to milk a cow. Not that that puts it on a short list or anything...
The short list is things I don't want to try and vandalizing a bridge is on it.
You have to put old stoves somewhere.
In the Jenah Breanna photo you both look really young.
I really really like that raccoon picture! Its the best picture of all the ones you posted.
That's all I've got for now...
@mrcolorful - Yeahhhh okay. When you love photography, stuff like that happens.
She was actually just moving the chainsaw to open that box behind her.
I have milked a cow before, so I figured I'd let them give it a go.
Why WOULDN'T you want to vandalize a bridge?
I suppose you do...
We are young. We're only 19 and 18.
Hahaha, that raccoon scared the crap out of us. Ash was just warning us about badgers. All we saw when we opened the door was a furry thing scurrying, so we freaked and screamed, "MONSTER!!!" Then we figured out what it was, then started a mission to photograph it. There was also a dead raccoon. Sad.
@Pieces_of_a_Melody - If you had a film camera you would have spent a lot of money on film and developing the film...
That makes sense. I was having trouble picturing her using the chainsaw.
That makes sense...
I don't know. It just never seemed like a good use of my time or energy. I also see no point and have no desire to advertise myself like that. I was the kid who would see concrete with handprints or writing and think someone had willfully and wantonly destroyed an otherwise beautifully worked item.
I fully expect that if I'm still alive in 30 years that I'll have a section of land in the country somewhere with odd things laying around that most people would consider to be junk.
To me it looks like you are more like 14 or 15 from that picture.
That reminds me of some things from the camp that I worked at for two summers. But those are probably tales for another time.
Those are amazingly beautiful photographs! Wish I could take photos like that. I am assuming, however, that you have quite a good camera... Doesn't matter, if you don't have talent, a good camera's not going to help. Girl, you've got talent!
Beautiful!
Peek-a-boo cow and raccoon definitely my favourites!
@GirlOnMission - Awww, thank you! I've been developing my talent a lot of the past year. It's taken some work and I still have SO MUCH to learn! And yes, my camera is pretty nice (Canon PowerShot S5 IS), but I'd like a nicer one. lol
dude, those are some awesome pictures!! looks like you had fun in iowa!
Vignette!
I so want to have taken those pictures. They're gorgeous.
@somebody_u_know -
Thanks! And yes, Vignette! We are so cool. lol
So the raccoon picture, b/c of that white-esque bar at the bottom of the pic, it almost looks like he's on a laptop, and that's the top of it that the top part of his head is poking over (I hope that you understand what I'm trying to say...hahaha).
@hubbaduh - Hahaha, I totally do understand! Yeah, now that you say that, I agree! He does look like he is!
